Aligner design software that scales by batching, not hiring.
Aligner design software that turns one workstation into a virtual design department, so an aligner lab's headcount stops growing with its case volume.
For most of the last fifteen years, aligner labs have scaled exactly one way: hire more designers when case volume grows, train them, give them workstations, manage them. Cost per case stayed flat at best — the bottleneck (human scan interpretation) never moved, and inconsistency between designers grew with the team.
GuideMia's alternative is to put a virtual design department into one computer.
Drop a folder, set the threads, walk away
On a workstation running OrthoPlus orthodontic software with AlignerBot, you queue cases by dropping a folder of scan files in. Set how many concurrent design threads to run (matching your CPU/GPU budget), click Start, and the AI processes the cases continuously in the background.
For each case, AlignerBot:
- Repairs and normalises the scan data (holes, non-manifold edges, the mesh defects you'd otherwise fix by hand).
- Runs AI tooth segmentation.
- Generates the initial tooth setup.
- Prepares the case for a designer's refinement pass.
Ten cases, fifty cases, a few hundred — same workstation, same operator. Throughput is now compute, not human hours.
What changes for the lab
- Cost per case drops. The variable input is electricity and amortised hardware, not labour.
- Turnaround becomes predictable. AI doesn't have bad days, doesn't take leave, doesn't quit.
- Designers spend their time on judgment. The repetitive parts (repair, segmentation, initial setup) are handled. Your senior designer's hours go to the cases that need clinical refinement, not the cases that need cleanup.
- Small labs can play with big-lab volume. You don't need matching headcount to compete with a multi-site manufacturer on case-volume math.
Where the AI stops and the human keeps deciding
This isn't "the AI runs the lab." It's "the AI removes the parts of the work that didn't need a human, and hands the case to a human at the point that does." Tooth movement priorities, IPR strategy, attachment placement when anatomy is unusual, the clinician's instructions that contradict the AI's defaults — those still get a designer's eye. The cookbook walks the dividing line clearly.
How the aligner design software fits the rest of Cympha
If you're using Cympha Case Management too, cases flow into AlignerBot from the same queue you assign by hand today — the case lands, the AI takes it through scan repair → segmentation → setup, and the result comes back into the case with all the evidence the lab manager and the doctor need to approve it. AlignerBot is a designer module; Cympha is the orchestration layer; they fit.
Try it
If you already use OrthoPlus, AlignerBot installs as a module — the rest of this is configuration. If you don't, learn more at cympha.com/alignerbot. Part of Dental Case Lifecycle Management. Cympha runs every dental case as one tracked record — intake to outcome, across every doctor, lab, and supplier — instead of a dozen disconnected tools. What is DCLM? →
