Hand a case to automatic aligner design software
Submitting a case to automatic aligner design software takes an intra-oral scan and a short form, if you know the four fields that actually matter.
AlignerBot is the AI aligner-design service inside Cympha. You submit an intra-oral scan and a short parameter form; a workstation running OrthoPlus orthodontic software runs the planning cascade and gives you back a staged treatment plan to approve. This chapter walks the intake — what to upload, what to fill, and what happens after you press submit.
What you need before submitting to the aligner design software
- A Cympha account with the Customer role.
- Per-arch intra-oral scans for both jaws (STL or PLY).
- A bite scan if your scanner exports one — strongly recommended.
- The patient's name. Date of birth, gender and chief complaints are optional but useful.
- A clear idea of the plan range you want on each jaw — all, 3-3, 4-4, or 5-5.
The four fields that matter most
The intake form has many parameters. Four decide whether the AI's first pass is usable:
- Plan range — per jaw. Locked at submit. Pick the working set you actually want moved.
- Extraction policy — automatic (AI proposes), explicit FDI numbers, or forbid.
- IPR / expansion / protraction permissions — directional don'ts. Over-constraining is the most common first-time mistake.
- Missing teeth — so the planner doesn't try to move ghosts.
Use the AI extractor on your clinical notes
If you already have a clinical paragraph in your chart ("28-year-old female, mild crowding upper canines, plan upper 3-3, automatic IPR allowed, expand premolars …"), paste it into the form's AI Extraction box and let it fill the structured fields. The parser is good for the common case but isn't perfect — review every field before submitting.
Pick the lab
The first section is Lab. Two paths:
- GuideMia Design Lab — the first-party AI design service. Click it if you don't have a lab partner, or want AlignerBot to run on GuideMia's central workstation.
- Your own lab — search by lab name or the lab manager's exact Cympha email. There's no public directory.
After picking the lab, click AlignerBot as the service category.
What happens after submit
- Submitted — lab manager triage queue.
- Designing — lab assigned an AlignerBot-role user; the agent dispatches OrthoPlus.
- Awaiting Approval — Phase-1 plan is back. You get an email; review the staged tooth positions in Studio in your browser, then approve, request changes, or escalate.
